 Hiking in the Mountains

PostSubject: Hiking in the Mountains   Tue Dec 09, 2008 1:12 pm

Ascending towards the heavens along a mountainous plain,
I glance skyward at the sun and clouds hoping for no rain.
I slowly stop to overlook the distant scene,
While listening to the whispering winds call,
And watch the sun's rays gleam.
Suddenly I spot an eagle take to flight,
As it spreads its wings and flies with its strong might.
I walk slowly again as I clear my mind,
While watching as the trees and mountains combine.
As I reach the mountain's peak,
I come upon a silent brook that I was happy to seek.
I quickly drop my heavy hiking gear
Then glance upon the water which appears very clear.
I remove my boots and climb into the icy pool,
And use the surrounding stones for balance as small stepping stools.
I take a deep breath and sigh,
As the pains from my sore feet subside.
As the hours and the peaceful afternoon go quickly by,
And the mellow sun starts to set low,
I pack up my hiking gear and finally descend to the earth below
